TCU To The Big East

The carousel continues to turn in the world of conference realignment. CF 360 contributor Stephen Francis has the story on Examiner.com…

It seems the latest internet crazes now revolve around two things:  Double rainbows and conference re-alignment rumors.  Sources ranging from the New York Post to ESPN report that the Big East Conference is interested in adding TCU to the conference, which would increase football participation from eight teams to nine.

As with most rumors though, it’s difficult to pin-point whether or not any truth exists.  TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte even went so far as to issue a statement that states, in more words, “We refuse to comment.“  This comes as no real surprise though since the Horned Frogs are currently in the Mountain West Conference, which has also been involved in recent rumors.

Bush Will Forfeit His Heisman Trophy

Reggie Bush has released a statement saying he plans to forfeit his 2005 Heisman Trophy.

“One of the greatest honors of my life was winning the Heisman Trophy in 2005,” Bush said. “For me, it was a dream come true. But I know that the Heisman is not mine alone. Far from it. I know that my victory was made possible by the discipline and hard work of my teammates, the steady guidance of my coaches, the inspiration of the fans, and the unconditional love of my family and friends. And I know that any young man fortunate enough to win the Heisman enters into a family of sorts. Each individual carries the legacy of the award and each one is entrusted with its good name.”
Last week a Yahoo! report said the Heisman Trust was going to vacate the award since the NCAA had ruled Bush ineligible for the 2005 season. The Heisman Trust countered by saying that it had no immediate plans to do so.
Hand it to Bush, because he knows what’s coming and he’s trying to get out in front of it. It’s a nice PR move to make him look like the better man. At least he has more cojones than Mike Garrett or Pete Carroll.

Reggie Bush To Lose Heisman?

According to a report on Yahoo.com Reggie Bush will be stripped of his 2005 Heisman Trophy. The Heisman has been handed out for 75 years, and Bush would be the first person to ever have it taken away from him.

The NCAA has ruled the former USC running back ineligible for the 2005 season, and the Heisman trust has been conducting its own investigation since June. The Yahoo report says the Heisman trust will leave the 2005 Heisman vacated after it strips Bush of the award.

We’ll discuss this and more in this week’s edition of College Football 360 Radio.
